Changes to History

The History Department has renumbered most of its upper-division courses effective Fall 1998. The course numbers and descriptions are available in the 1998-99 General Catalog. History now has three subject abbreviations. HIST includes general history courses as well as those in Asian and African history. HISA includes courses in the history of the Americas. HISE includes European history courses.

Numbers for lower division courses (1 to 99), graduate courses (200 to 299), and professional courses (300 to 399) remain the same. Students should check with the History Department at (909) 787-5401, 1212 HMNSS for more information about individual courses, or consult with their own academic advisors as to which courses best fit their degree program.
