The Office of the Registrar is pleased to offer students an opportunity to make immediate adjustments to their 1997 Fall schedules during the first week of instruction via PAWS or UCR STAR. This will allow you to adjust your schedule at your own convenience, without making multiple campus visits to determine which courses are open or to complete the in-person (paper) add/drop process.
Most, but not all, courses will be available to you for adjustments via PAWS or UCR STAR the first week of instruction. The Biology Department is not participating in PAWS/UCR STAR adds or schedule changes.
For any courses offered by Biology, you will continue to use the in-person (paper) process for adds and grading-basis changes during the first week of instruction. You may drop courses from Biology via PAWS and UCR STAR during the first week if you wish, and change class sections via PAWS, but all other changes must be processed in person.
For courses offered by any other department, you must use PAWS or UCR STAR to make adjustments to your schedule during the first week; paper add/drop forms will not be processed for these departments.
Grading-basis changes will be allowed through PAWS for most courses during the first week of instruction except courses in the Biology Department.
Beginning the second week of instruction, all courses will revert to the in-person (paper) add/drop process.
Making schedule adjustments via PAWS or UCR STAR during the first week of instruction will be identical to using them for the open enrollment makeup periods. You will simply make your usual connection via the internet or the phone and add and drop courses to obtain your desired schedule (provided there is space available in your desired sections, of course). When using PAWS for first week changes, you will be able to maintain enrollment in the lecture section of a course while you search for a new discussion or laboratory section. This is an improvement over UCR STAR, which requires you to drop all sections of a course, including the lecture section, before you can choose a new discussion or laboratory section. For this reason, we encourage you to use PAWS for schedule adjustments during the first week of instruction.
If you are not familiar with the in-person (paper) and PAWS/UCR STAR processes for schedule adjustments, please see the Contents of this schedule.
